At this very moment, Zach Plopper’s up to something. A pro since he was 11, perhaps he’s checking Fletcher’s Cove (Pillbox) or wrapping up an article for TransWorld Surf. A renaissance man who’s fluent in Spanish, he might be playing the front nine, enjoying a Kentucky Derby rager or planning a jaunt to Spain. It’s hard to predict where Zach’s headed next but it’s worth asking if you can join.
A dual major at UCSD in Biology and Urban Studies, the Solana Beach native received his Master’s degree from UCLA in Urban planning and International Development. Today he puts his diplomas to use at Wildcoast (http://www.wildcoast.net/site/). Day to day, Zach works with coastal property-owners and Mexican federal agencies to help preserve threatened wild-lands in Baja, California. Baja’s interplay of biological elements, geology and surrounding ocean environment means that Zach helps protect one of the world’s most complex eco systems.
